Travel Insurance

Take the Worry out of
Renting With Us

When you rent from anyone else, you already pay for travel insurance but you never get it!!! Other rental agencies have liberal cancellation policies and many days go unrented.  Who pays for those empty rooms?  You do of course with higher daily rental rates that account for all those broken reservations.  So why pay for travel insurance and never get it?  Rent from me and cover your ENTIRE vacation for less than those agencies charge with higher rates.  You will still save money and now have the peace of mind that your vacation is covered – even unforeseen medical expenses.

For about 10% of your total cost of your vacation you can buy travel insurance that allows you to just decide not to go on vacation and get most, or all, of your money back!  How cool is that?  That covers airline tickets, rent of our villa, pre-paid activities like lift tickets at the ski resort; the whole cost of your vacation.

Here are three great websites that get insurance quotes from dozens of insurance companies:

You will face basically 4 choices:

  1. Self insure and save 10% and hope that the 10 next vacations never have a problem
  2. Buy an insurance policy to cover just your villa rent
  3. Buy and insurance policy to cover the villa rent and airline tickets and hope that if you must cancel the insurance will cover the expenses
  4. Buy a comprehensive insurance policy that lets you just decide to not go on vacation and get back all your money!

Me; I like #4, its not that more expensive than the others.  Imagine, no risk anymore if you have any problems simply notify the insurance company that you won’t be going on vacation and to send the check to you ASAP!

The trick with travel insurance is to find a company that actually pays what it should – I’ve scanned many a chat room that deal with travel insurance and here are the ones I recommend:

In December 2009 I did a comparison of a family of 4 with a total cost of $7,000 (airline and Honua Kai reservation for 7 days)

  • Travelex Insurance Services – allows cancellation for any reason with 80% returned! $840 or 12% AM Best rating A+
  • Travel Guard – allows cancellation for any reason with 75% returned. $699.82 or 10% AM Best rating A
  • Travel Insured International – Allows cancellation for “work reasons” with 75% returned.  $486 or 7% AM Best rating A
  • Travel Safe – Allows for cancellation for any reason with 75% returned.  $588 or 8.4% AM Best rating A-
  • CSA Travel Protection – Allows for cancellation for any reason with 100% returned.  $673.85 or 9.6% AM Best rating A-
  • M H Ross – Allows for cancellation for any reason with 100% returned.  $618 or 8.8% AM Best rating A+

I make no money from any of the above companies – but you have car insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, heck even your cell phone has some insurance – why not something that cost you some serious money like a vacation?
